Quectel 4G Module (EC25)

EC25 is one of Quectel module which is part of LTE Cat 4 module series optimized specially for M2M and IoT applications. The data rates for these modules are 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink. EC25 is compatible with Quectel multi-mode LTE Standard EC21/EC20 R2.0/EC20 R2.1/EG25-G modules and UMTS/HSPA+ UC20/UC200T modules.

SIMCOM 4G Module (SIM7100E)


SIMCom’s SIM7100E is based on Qualcomm MDM9215 multiple mode LTE platform. SIM7100E has multi-band capability and supports TDD-LTE/FDD-LTE/WCDMA/GSM/GNSS SMT . It has application core:Cortex™ A5(550MHz) and three QDSP6 cores (Up to 500Mhz). Also it supports r
ich interfaces including UART, USB2.0, SPI, I2C,Keypad  & PCM, etc.  The support application includes capability to integrate TCP/UDP/FTP/FTPS/HTTP/HTTPS/SMTP/POP3 and MMS.

This inventory system is designed for Industrial usage in which the assets are kept in large shop or plant floor.  Below are the challenges faced and resolution done to make it a successful product.

Requirements 

  1. The RFID reader and the controller PC can not be kept nearby.
  2. The assets are kept in huge shop floor, the LED and Buzzer indication should come for easy identification of assets.
  3. Multiple RFID Readers should be connected to the system for complete asset management.

Product Specifications

  •  RFID Reader has RS 485 connector so that the controller PC can be kept at far location.
  • Tags are designed to have LED and Buzzer functionality.
  • Controller software is modified so that it can accommodation multiple RFID Readers and tags.
  • Design of Hardware & Software are optimized for low power and battery consumption.

As the RFID reader has RS485 connection the reader can be kept far away.
The antenna can be aligned as per the Line of site of the assets.
Also the Antenna can be changed as per the requirement to improve the
coverage of the RFID reader. The store manager can give the Tag asset number
to locate the tag and the buzzer and LED will guide the personnel to the
exact asset location. The RFID Inventory Tracking System solution can be
enhanced to add entry and exit choke points to note down the exit location
of the assets.

How to calculate target cost for Electronic Products ?

The principle of target cost starts with finalizing of selling price of a particular product and work back to the cost by removing the cost of profit. The design and manufacturing teams are vital for this as the emphasis is given from the design and planning stage, so that the apt decision are made to determine the price and feature combinations suitable for the product and profitable for the customers.
